Blah, Blah, Blah Blog
Welcome to Our Community!
Hey there, wonderful soon-to-be friends. I’m excited to kick off my first blog post with all of you. As I navigate through this new chapter after raising my kids, I find myself pondering the big question. Who am I now? It’s a thought that many of us may grapple with once our children are grown and embarking on their own adventures.
The Adventure Begins
Life is an adventure, wouldn’t you agree? Thinking about this adventure, my goal is to connect with amazing people like you who are eager to share experiences – both the joyous and the challenging. Here at seniorsageactively.com I envision a vibrant community where we can share humorous tales or sensitive moments that come with aging.
Our Stories Matter
This blog aims to be a pace to swap stories and offer tips to navigate this “senior category” of life. Lots of professional opinions, and “you should’s” out there - but they are not you; real life moments are the ones that matter, help others, keep our sanity and offer tips along the way. Add a little humor and we have a metaphorical elevator ride!
So, What Have We Got
Currently, I have a series called #GrumpyOldManSeries – posted on social media and linked on my website (click it) – stories of real life and opinions I’ve heard – I love them – honest. Let’s bridge the gap between generations.
On a more serious side, I shared some thoughts and sentiment on how seniors manage to live on Social Security alone and asked how I may help or others may help. We can’t all afford the exquisite “senior living” communities – although we can dream of winning the lottery – we live in reality.

I’m working hard at this, navigating AI (Artificial Intelligence websites), website builders, social media – just started a few weeks ago and as frustrating as it is, I’m loving learning new things and joining this relatively new community. So tell me and others..
*What’s one thing you’re excited to do more of now?
*What challenges are you currently facing that you’d like tips on from others?
*Simply feel free to say “hi” and let us know where you’re joining us from.
Your voice matters – estimates tell me there are approx. 105 million of us over 55 living in the U.S. and growing fast making up roughly 30% of the total U.S. population. We are Senior Strong.

Exercise! - Why Can't I Do It?
I've added 8AM to my calendar every day and noted Exercise - that was over a week ago and still haven't made it - but I am trying for today. Am I tired, sore, lazy - yep, probably lazy. Years ago, I went 3-4 days a week. That was after I worked a full day, made dinner, helped the kids with their homework, ran errands for supplies need for their school the next day and cleaned up after dinner. Yet, can't seem to get myself up and out in the morning. At night I'm tired and just want to read a good book and drift off to slumber land.
So Need Some Tips.
The best advise I've received is "Just Do It" - like my life is a slogan. Well it doesn't work. I feel better after I've worked out - I say that with a little grin - 2# and 5# weights are all I can manage. Still have the energy - just not what it used to be. So please help out - what motivates you? Tell me your secret and how it works for you - I can try it if it's not a slogan tip.
Now Is The Time - Another Slogan
Seriously, I just talked myself into doing something that should be helpful to my body - and I watch the videos on Instagram and TikTok - wonderful aging folks exercising in their homes - imagine that - not a health club. Couple times I tried to go along with the video trainer - but alas, I got bored, couldn't see the picture properly and so was guessing at the move they were making - not ideal. But I give them so much credit.
OK - I Talked Myself Into It!
Bye for now - I'm off to the workout center - book in hand. If I can't go to the weight room (I say that as a joke), then I'll set the walking machine for 1.8 mph, read my book, clean off the machine and head home to sit on the couch!

Been A While But Back!
As a senior, I’m sure you are aware that we pray for “the same”, we almost never get it.
Life happens, just experienced Mike in the hospital – how can there be so many tests - it’s like an assortment of running shoes – try this, try that – is it what we want – well then we’ll try another one.

Call the Kids or Don't
I didn't call them - didn't really have anything to say (except I'm nervous, scared, worried) so no reason to call.Their lives are busy and so it’s hard to go through this alone but I argue with myself that I shouldn’t disrupt their family’s life with what might not be an urgent thing. I have one son (maybe you have one child also), that no matter what I say – they always say – it will all turn out fine – don’t stress. Fine? This is the love of my life -nothing will be fine until he’s home and crabby as all get out!
We'll all have our turns at caregiving and being cared for - and, there is a side of me that feels blessed that I can be that person today.

Tell me how it works in your family or your neighborhood & community. Do you have support, kindness? I hope you do.
For now, I want to go play in the puddles that the rain just left - wondering if I can jump over them!
